Myanmar Jardine Schindler Limited, a company jointly owned by Jardine Matheson and Schindler Group has inaugurated its training centre in the city of Yangon last week on 13th October, 2018. This marks Jardine Schindler Group's sixth training centre in the Southeast Asia region since the first facility was established in Vietnam in 2016.

"The training centre demonstrates Schindler's long-term commitment to safety and quality to deliver outstanding customer service through professionally trained technicians. This is the key element in driving sustainable growth in Myanmar," said Wai Sam Wong, Managing Director of Myanmar Jardine Schindler Limited.

In collaboration with the Swiss Embassy, Schindler first established its vocational technical program in Myanmar in 2015. Continuing this dedication to people development, Schindler's state-of-the-art training facility will offer a more comprehensive training experience. As the very first elevator and escalator professional training facility in Myanmar, it includes two buildings with floor areas of over 7,000 square feet, two elevator training shafts, one escalator, two simulators, a product showroom and five instructional classrooms.

Dr. Jurg Benz, Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy in Myanmar congratulated the company for making another bold step ahead in developing its people's technical skills and reinforcing the partnership between Myanmar Jardine Schindler and the Centre for Vocational Training Program under the Swiss Embassy.

Peter Beynon, Jardine Matheson Country Chairman Myanmar, stated that Schindler is a pioneer in promoting such development initiatives, not only in the escalator and elevator industry, but also among foreign businesses in the country.

This facility is of critical importance for the company to "attract and retain the best talent as our future leaders and functional experts" said Rene Kunz, Jardine Schindler Group Technical and Field Support Director during the opening ceremony of the new training centre.

Moving into 2019, ten certified master trainers will be capable of delivering courses to nearly 300 technicians, supervisors, project managers, contractors and apprentices for the company.
