Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said: "AirAsia sees huge potential in the Indian market and we are ready to push with our route expansion, not only from Bangkok, but also from Phuket that is already a top destination for Indian travelers. The airline looks forward to connecting more visitors from India with even more direct trips to Phuket.

"We are ready to fully pursue the Indian market this year as demand continues to rise. For Kochi, we will now offer a direct route from Bangkok (Don Mueang), which has already been well received with an average load factor of 90 percent, and from Phuket, which we expect to be just as popular amongst travelers." Mr. Santisuk said.

Kochi is an important port and industrial city in India, serving as the commercial capital of Kerala state. The city's direct access to the Arabian Sea brought it the moniker of "Queen of the Arabian Sea," and tourists regularly visit for its beautiful attractions and enticing activities, ranging from backwater boathouse cruises to viewing the over 500-year-old practice of Chinese fishnet fishing, which while once a distinctly Chinese practice has today become a signature of Kerala. Rapidly developing, Kochi is ready to welcome businesses and tourists alike.

Phuket meanwhile, is a popular destination for Indian travelers with its beautiful sea views, plentiful seafood, and array of unique local features. Famed among Thai and international tourists, the new direct flight to Phuket will make visiting significantly more convenient for travelers from India.

AirAsia currently flies to 13 Indian cities via 16 routes, from Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Kochi, Bengaluru, Gaya, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirappalli, Hyderabad and Delhi, and from Phuket to Chennai, Kolkata and now Kochi.

With its commitment to affordability and world-class standards, AirAsia continues to provide seamless travel experiences. Recently, the airline earned recognition as the only Thai airline ranked among the top five most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region in 2024, as assessed by Cirium. This achievement underscores AirAsia's reliability and excellence in service, ensuring travelers enjoy both convenience and peace of mind.
