Recognizing the environmental challenges posed by the improper disposal of used cooking oil, Bangchak has taken action through an initiative to produce biodiesel from used cooking oil for nearly two decades. This initiative has since evolved into the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that meets international standards and is managed by BSGF Company Limited. The "Fry to Fly" project aims to raise awareness and promote collaboration among the public, government, and private sectors. Bangchak service stations have been designated as purchase points for used cooking oil from households, and the company also purchases oil directly from partner restaurants and various agencies. The collected oil is processed at Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery, the first and only SAF Stand Alone Plant, which is set to begin in the second quarter of this year, with a capacity of million liters per day.
This project aligns comprehensively with the BCG Model, namely the bioeconomy, circular economy, and green economy. The project contributes to potentially reducing carbon emissions, through SAF, from the aviation industry by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Additionally, it generates income for households and organizations, minimizes waste from improper oil disposal, and promotes health by discouraging the reuse of cooking oil.
Bangchak has also expanded the "Fry to Fly" concept to educational institutions by establishing "Fry to Fly Stations" in schools in collaboration with the Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation. This aims to educate young people about the importance of sustainable waste management while providing students with an opportunity to collect used cooking oil from households for SAF production. This reduces environmental impact and fosters a sense of sustainability from a young age, inspiring them to help drive society towards a better future.
Bangchak invites you to take care of your health through "No Refry" and protect the environment by avoiding the disposal of used oil in public areas.
