Wut has been with CIMB Thai for more than 11 years. He joined the bank in February 2014 as Head of Investment Banking; subsequently in 2017, he was appointed to Head of Corporate Banking and by September 2019, he also assumed leadership of the Transaction Banking portfolio, as part of CIMB Thai's broader leadership and talent development efforts. Under his stewardship, the Corporate and Transaction Banking division has undergone a highly successful transformation and turnaround, positioning the bank as the preferred partner in Thailand for intraASEAN transactions. A seasoned banker, Wut's experience includes serving as Executive Vice President, Head of Capital Markets in Standard Chartered Bank Thailand prior to joining CIMB Thai.
Wut's appointment is in line with the Group's new Forward30 strategic plan, a six-year roadmap designed to accelerate growth and future proof the organisation. As part of this strategy, CIMB Thai will now be part of the Group's Growth Markets, helmed by Victor Lee Meng Teck, Chief Executive Officer, Growth Markets, CIMB Group. Victor has a proven track record of regional business transformation, most recently with the successful turnaround of CIMB Singapore. He will work with Wut to transform CIMB Thai, which is one of the immediate key priorities under Forward30.
CIMB Group Chief Executive Officer, Novan Amirudin said, "I am pleased to welcome Wut as President and CEO of CIMB Thai. We strongly believe that Wut's appointment aligns well with our Forward30 aspirations, given his proven track record in business transformation and turnaround capabilities as well as deep familiarity with the Thai market."
"We would like to thank Paul Wong for his contributions and service as President and CEO of CIMB Thai. In the interim, he will take on the role as Advisor to CEO CIMB Thai and we look forward to his continued support and input following his return to the Group in June 2025."
