Sumitomo Corporation Thailand continues its commitment to empowering Thai vocational students through scholarships

As part of its "100SEED: POWER UP" corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which aims to help address educational barriers faced by underprivileged students, Sumitomo Corporation Thailand Ltd. has provided its third-year scholarships to 80 underprivileged vocational students from six educational institutions in Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram provinces, with coordination from the Education for Development Foundation (EDF).

Mr. Toshiro Murata, Division General Manager of Mineral Resources of Sumitomo Corporation Thailand Ltd. said, "We are delighted to continue providing our third-year scholarships to 80 students from six educational institutions in Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram provinces, including Samut Sakhon Technical College, Samut Sakhon Fisheries College, Amphawa Industrial and Community Education College, Ban Phaeo Industrial and Community Education College, Samut Songkhram Polytechnic College, and Samut Songkhram Technical College. Through our "100SEED: POWER UP" initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to helping these scholarship recipients complete as least their vocational education and pursue their career aspirations. We also hope this support will enable them to continue their higher education through evening or weekend programs while working."

Mr. Sunphet Nilrat, Chairman of the Education for Development Foundation (EDF), added, "The Education for Development Foundation (EDF) was established in 1987 to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged students across Thailand, helping them build brighter futures and break the cycle of poverty. We hope that, after completing their education, starting their careers, and achieving success, these scholarship recipients will give back to society by supporting other underprivileged students through scholarships or other CSR initiatives."

Ms. Tonkhao Kangwansinghanat, a third-year Vocational Certificate scholarship recipient representing Banphaeo Industrial and Community Education College, said "On behalf of all scholarship recipients, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Sumitomo Corporation Thailand Ltd. for its generous support. Your commitment to providing educational opportunities for students in need has made a meaningful difference in our lives. This support helps cover our educational expenses, particularly tuition fees, while easing the financial burden on our families. We promise to use these scholarships responsibly to support our education and remain committed to studying hard and achieving our goals as a way of expressing our gratitude for your kindness."
