Former Scuba Chef Brings All-Day Brunch to Sukhumvit 31 with Sun Society

Sun Society, a new all-day breakfast-and-brunch restaurant co-founded by chef Rafael Garcia, will open on Sukhumvit 31 on 1 November. Bringing European hospitality experience and Bangkok's fine-dining kitchens to an informal neighbourhood setting, Garcia and his co-founders are creating a place where breakfast follows a morning run, coffee accompanies a working afternoon, and familiar faces become friends.

Founded by Rafael, his brother Thibault Garcia, and Kevin Koeninger, Sun Society will serve breakfast from 07:00, along with an all-day menu of Western dishes and Thai-inspired creations. With most dishes priced between 200 and 300 Baht, the restaurant is designed to be convenient for nearby residents and workers. The menu features a variety of dishes.

The menu features Avocado Croissant Toast, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Carrot Tacos, Turkish Egg, Salmon Waffle, along with specialty coffee and a bar offering drinks including mimosas. Ingredients will be sourced locally and sustainably wherever possible, with choices suited to both a quick breakfast and a longer brunch with friends.

"Every restaurant I have worked in was designed for two hours of someone's life. This one is designed for a whole day," said Rafael Garcia, chef and co-founder of Sun Society. "I wanted to bring what I've learned in those kitchens into a place people could come back to several times a week. You might first come for breakfast, then join a run and get to know someone over coffee afterwards. Over time, you recognise faces and people recognise you. That's what we want Sun Society to become; a place where you eat well and feel part of the neighbourhood."

Rafael's career has taken him through Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, the one-Michelin-starred La Reserve de Beaulieu near Monaco, a Paris bakery and private chalets in Zermatt, where he worked as head chef for Le Collectionist. After moving to Bangkok, he joined Michelin-starred Cadence by Dan Bark as pastry chef, then became the opening head chef at Scuba, which received an Opening of the Year distinction at the 2026 Koktail Thailand Restaurant Guide Awards. At Sun Society, that experience will inform an everyday dining concept built around accessible prices and repeat visits.

The community element draws on the three founders' experiences running rugby and padel, and the connections they formed by meeting regularly over a shared interest. Complimentary morning sessions will include yoga, Pilates, breathwork, HIIT, stretching, and a run club, giving guests opportunities to get to know one another before sitting down to eat.

For those staying beyond breakfast, a dedicated co-working floor will offer Wi-Fi and power sockets, while on-site sports massage services will support recovery after exercise. From December, the founders plan to extend opening hours to 22:00 and host outdoor film screenings in the garden, giving neighbours another reason to gather as the day winds down.

Sun Society will open at 178 Sukhumvit 31 Alley, Lane 2, Bangkok, approximately a ten-minute walk from EmSphere. The restaurant will initially operate Wednesday to Monday, from 07:00 to 17:00. On-site parking is available, and the venue is pet friendly.
