Wannaporn "Pui" Phornprapha, Founder and Managing Director of P Landscape, has become the first Thai recipient of the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) Alumni Award. Honoured in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 26 September 2026 as one of the award's 2025 recipients, she joins a group of alumni recognised for leadership and contributions that demonstrate the wider impact of design. Established by the GSD Alumni Council in 2021, the award highlights the role of design beyond individual projects. Her recognition brings international attention to a landscape-led approach that responds to pressing challenges for cities and developments: integrating nature into the built environment, strengthening connections between people and place, and creating long-term value as communities and environments evolve.
Over nearly three decades since founding P Landscape in Bangkok in 1997, Wannaporn has helped shape landscape projects across hospitality, residential, urban and ecological settings in more than 30 countries. P Landscape is the landscape architect for all outdoor areas of projects including One Bangkok (excluding the hotels), bringing nature into urban life; THE BARAI HUA HIN - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, enhancing luxury wellness experiences; and The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace in India, celebrating cultural heritage through contemporary hospitality. Together, these projects reflect her ability to balance cultural identity, ecological context and human experience, creating landscapes that evolve with people and time. Becoming the award's first Thai recipient marks a significant international acknowledgement of this longstanding approach to landscape architecture.
"Nature means everything: people, community and culture. Landscape is only one part of a much larger system. When a project is completed, the landscape is not finished; it is only beginning. Trees grow, water changes and cities evolve. Everything is interconnected, which is why design must be multidisciplinary," said Wannaporn. Her perspective also informs the idea of an "urban green jigsaw": each landscape, whatever its scale, can contribute to a wider green network that connects people, communities and cities. It is a way of thinking about design not as a finished object, but as an ongoing relationship between people, place, experience and time.
That philosophy has become central to P Landscape, informing how its multidisciplinary teams collaborate with clients and partners and approach each project through the character of its place, its culture, ecology and people. Founded in 1997, the practice has grown into an international landscape design firm with offices in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Shanghai. As it approaches its 30th anniversary in 2027, Wannaporn's recognition reflects not only an individual achievement, but also a design ethos carried forward through the practice: creating landscapes rooted in nature and culture, crafted for people, and enriched by time.
