PSP Signs Strategic MOU with Eco Atlas and Evonik to Co-Develop Immersion Cooling Fluids for data center, Advancing Sustainable Innovation for Future Data Centers

Mr. Sakesan Krongphanich, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PSP, stated that one of the company's core business goals is to drive transformation toward comprehensive sustainability across all dimensions of the operations. As sustainability becomes a priority across industries—including those that rely on cooling technologies such as manufacturing, electric vehicles, energy storage systems (ESS), and data centers. PSP is leveraging its deep expertise in the research, development, and production of coolants in formulating and manufacturing lubricants and specialty fluids to develop high performance, environmentally friendly coolant solutions.

"This landmark collaboration is driven by a shared vision among all three partners—PSP, Eco Atlas, and Evonik Oil Additives—to promote highly efficient and eco-friendly cooling technologies. Immersion cooling is rapidly gaining attention in the data center industry as a sustainable alternative to traditional air-cooling systems. It offers significant energy savings and operational cost reductions while aligning with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and global carbon neutrality goals," said Mr. Sakesan.

"Thailand is rapidly establishing itself as a strategic hub for data centers in the region, attracting strong interest from global industry leaders. Over the past three years, the country's data center sector has expanded by more than 50%. In 2024, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) approved 37 data center projects, representing a total investment value exceeding THB 98.50 billion. This robust level of foreign investment highlights Thailand's solid economic fundamentals and reinforces its position as a promising destination for advanced digital infrastructure development."

Mr. Zhou Zhiyong, Director of Liquid Cooling Products at Eco Atlas, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, saying:

"We are delighted to collaborate with such influential partners like PSP and Evonik in developing immersion cooling technologies. This initiative is a crucial step in enhancing the efficiency of data centers and related industries amid the explosive growth of data in the digital era. Together, we are pushing forward a safer, energy-efficient, and sustainable cooling solution that meets the evolving needs of global enterprises."

Dr. Mario Gomez, Global Head of Thermal Management Products at Evonik, added:

"At Evonik, we are committed to developing chemical solutions that create sustainable value. Partnering with PSP and Eco Atlas opens the opportunity to explore and co-develop innovative products that respond to global market demands. This cross-sector collaboration marks a major milestone in advancing technological innovation and sustainability of data centers—in terms of performance, safety, and environmental impact. We believe this project will play a pivotal role in the future of thermal management within the digital industry."

The MOU signing marks a significant milestone for PSP as it expands its innovation capabilities and strengthens its product offerings to meet the demands of future technologies. By combining the strengths of the three companies—PSP's lubricant and specialty fluid development expertise, Eco Atlas's advanced data center application and implementation capabilities, and Evonik's deep knowledge in specialty chemical innovation—the partnership aims to deliver high-performance, industrial-grade immersion coolants.

The joint research and development initiative aims to deliver cutting-edge immersion cooling solutions that combine high performance, industrial-grade safety, and environmental responsibility. Designed to meet the accelerating demands of the global data center industry—particularly amid the rapid expansion of AI computing and cloud services—this collaboration strengthens PSP's position as a forward-looking innovation leader.
