Bangchak Group, through Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited and Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited (BSRC), hosted the official opening ceremony of the "Fulfilling Societal Happiness Commemorative Park in Honor of His Majesty the King's 72nd Birthday by Bangchak." The park, developed on land provided by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), was officially handed over to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), with the Khlong Toei District Office assuming long-term stewardship. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, Group Chief Executive Officer and President of Bangchak Corporation Plc., Mr. Anuwat Rungreungattanakul, Director and Acting CEO & Deputy CEO, Refinery Business, BSRC Plc.,
Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, Dr. Wantanee Wattana, Permanent Secretary for the BMA and Mr. Surachet Laophulsuk, Governor of EXAT. They were joined by executives, officials, and staff from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Khlong Toei District Office, the Expressway Authority of Thailand, Bangchak Group, as well as representatives from relevant government agencies, local community leaders, and youth members of the Bangchak Youth Football Club.
The park was developed to commemorate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn's 72nd Birthday on 28 July 2024. Its concept is inspired by the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, who recognized the limited availability of public spaces in urban areas and sought to transform underutilized land into creative spaces for the community. One notable example was the "Lan Kila Phat" (Community Sports Ground) project first initiated in 2013 at Khlong Chan and later followed by a second site opened in 2015 beneath the Si Rat Expressway near Uruphong.
In this spirit, Bangchak and BSRC revitalized over five rai (approximately two acres) of land along the exit ramp of the Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway near Sukhumvit 50. This site, allocated by EXAT for public benefit and designated by the Khlong Toei District Office for development, was transformed with support from Bangchak and BSRC into a "Park for All", a multifunctional urban green space designed to promote well-being, environmental awareness, and community connection. The project is also aligned with the Bangkok Governor's "15-Minute Pocket Park" policy, which aims to ensure all residents have access to green spaces within a 15-minute walk of their homes.
The park features a wide range of facilities for exercise, sports, and recreation, including a futsal court, basketball court, skateboarding zone, climbing wall, walking and running tracks, children's playground, multipurpose area, mini amphitheater, and an ecological skywalk. The space is surrounded by abundant greenery, combining preserved mature trees with new plantings such as the Yellow Star tree (symbolic of His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn), Bodhi trees, Banyan trees, and Golden Trumpet trees. These not only provide shade but also help absorb carbon dioxide and PM2.5 particles. Solar panels have also been installed to power parts of the park, contributing to Bangkok's drive toward becoming a low-carbon city and ultimately achieving its Net Zero target.
Mr. Chaiwat stated, "This park was established to honor His Majesty the King's 72nd birthday on 28 July 2024 and forms part of our 'Fulfilling Societal Happiness' initiative, aimed at delivering regenerative happiness as Bangchak enters its fifth decade of operations. My appreciation goes to EXAT and BMA for enabling Bangchak and BSRC to contribute to the development of this area for public benefit. I also thank the Khlong Toei District Office for their collaboration in developing and taking care of this park following today's official opening, as well as all parties involved in bringing this project to fruition. I hope this park will stand as a meaningful example of collaboration among the public sector, private enterprises, and civil societies in creating a caring and sustainable community for all."
