Mr. Victor Seah, Chairman and CEO of Nestle Indochina, said, "Nestle and Chulalongkorn University have shared a strong collaboration for many years in advancing knowledge, conducting research, and supporting the potential of the new generation. This year, Nestle is delighted to further strengthen this cooperation through the signing of this important partnership. This reflects our shared commitment to driving innovation and human resource development for a sustainable future, in line with Nestle's philosophy of Creating Shared Value (CSV), which aims to create value for business, communities, society, and the environment. Nestle prioritizes improving people's quality of life by supporting education, research, and the development of Thai youth through the 'Nestle Needs YOUth' program to create positive long-term impacts for Thailand."
Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, said, "As Thailand and the global community continue to face complex challenges, ranging from food security and sustainability to rapid technological transformation, universities and industry leaders must work together more closely than ever before. At Chulalongkorn University, we strongly believe that higher education must go beyond the classroom by equipping students with real world experiences, interdisciplinary perspectives, and the capabilities required to thrive in an evolving global landscape. We are therefore delighted to further strengthen our longstanding collaboration with Nestle, one of the world's leading food and nutrition companies, recognized globally for its excellence in research and development, innovation, sustainability, and human capital development."
In 2026, Nestle is continuing for the third consecutive year in providing internship scholarships at the Nestle Research and Development Center in Singapore to two students from the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. This opens opportunities for food science students to gain hands-on experience working with Nestle's international team to invent and develop food and beverage innovations that are both tasty and more nutritious, to meet the needs of consumers at all life stages.
Furthermore, Nestle and Chulalongkorn University have maintained a long-standing partnership, particularly in promoting the development of food science professionals. Nestle has supported approximately 1,000 Chulalongkorn University students per year through various initiatives, including knowledge sharing, mentoring, internships, and the development of special projects. This creates opportunities for the younger generation to make meaningful progress in their career paths within the food science industry.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation between Nestle and Chulalongkorn University aligns with the "Nestle Needs YOUth" program, Nestle's global initiative aimed at preparing youth for the future of work. It focuses on developing the skills required in the workplace while increasing employment opportunities. This reflects the commitment of Nestle and Chulalongkorn University in empowering Thai youth under the three following pillars:
- Support: Providing guidance and preparing students for the world of work through various activities, such as skill development workshops, special lectures by Nestle experts, Career Day activities that create employment opportunities, as well as site visits to Nestle factories and headquarters to provide insights into real workplace environments.
- Skill Development: Strengthening essential skills to align with workforce demands, with a focus on bridging classroom knowledge and practical application through internship programs at Nestle Thailand and the internship scholarship program at the Nestle Research and Development Center in Singapore. This helps young people broaden their perspectives, build experience, and develop the comprehensive skills needed to enter the workforce with confidence.
- Employment: Creating career opportunities for youth through the "Nestle Functional Trainee" program, which aims to develop well-rounded capabilities and prepare high potential students to become quality professionals in the food and science industries in the future.
